An Act to extend the Bombay Borstal Schools Act, 1929, to the rest of the State of Maharashtra, for that and certain other purposes further to amend the Act, to repeal corresponding laws in force in those parts of the State to which the Act is extended, and for certain purposes further to amend the Reformatory Schools Act, 1897, in its application to the Vidharba Region of the State.
WHEREAS it is expedient to extend the Bombay Borstal Schools Act, 1929, to the rest of the State of Maharashtra, for that and certain other purposes further to amend the Act, to repeal corresponding laws in force in those parts of the State to which that Act is extended, and for certain purposes further to amend the Reformatory Schools Act, 1897, in its application to the Vidharba region of the State; It is hereby enacted in the Eleventh Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

1. Short title and commencement. :-
(1) This Act may be called the Bombay Borstal Schools (Extension and Amendment) Act, 1960.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the
Official Gazette,
appoint.

2. Extension of Bom. XVIII of 1929 to the rest of State of Maharashtra. Bom. XVIII of 1929. :-
The Bombay Borstal Schools Act, 1929, as in force in the Bombay area of the State of Maharashtra, is hereby extended to, and shall, by virtue of such extension, be in force in, that part of the State of Maharashtra to which, immediately before the commencement of this Act, it did not extend.

17. Amendment of Sections 4, 8, and 10 of Act VIII of 1897 in its application to Vidarbha region of Maharashtra State. VIII of 1897. :-
In the Reformatory Schools Act, 1897, in its application to the Vidharba region of the State of Maharashtra, -
(a) in section 4, in clause (a), for the words "sixteen years" the words "fifteen years" shall be substituted;
(b) in section 8, in sub-section (1), for the word "two" the words "three" shall be substituted;
(c) in section 10, - (i) for the words "sixteen years" the words "fifteen years" shall be substituted; (ii) in the marginal note, for the word "sixteen" the word "fifteen" shall be substituted;
