THE CHALAKUDY AND MALAPPURAM MUNICIPAL COUNCILS (EXTENSION OF TERM OF OFFICE OF COUNCILLORS) ACT, 1976

An Act to provide for the further extension of the term of office of the councillors of the Chalakudy and Malappuram Municipalities :-

WHEREAS it is considered necessary to provide for the further extension of the term of office of the councillors of the Chalakudy and Malappuram Municipalities; BE it enacted in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

(1) This Act may be called the Chalakudy and Malappuram Municipal Councils (Extension of Term of Office of Councillors) Act, 1976.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 30th day of November, 1976.

Notwithstanding anything contained in the Kerala Municipalities Act, 1960, (14 of 1961), the term of office of the councillors of the Chalakudy and Malappuram Municipalities constituted under the said Act, which expires on the 30th day of November, 1976, shall extend up to the lst day of November, 1977.

(1) The Chalakudy and Malappuram Municipal Councils (Extension of Term of Office of Councillors) Ordinance, 1976 (13 of 1976), is hereby repealed.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act.
