THE PUNJAB DISTRICT BOARDS (TEMPORARY CONSTITUTION) (REPEAL) ACT, 1955 [Act No. 26 of 1955] PREAMBLE Received the assent of the Governor of Punjab on the 8th November, 1955 and was first published in the Punjab Government Gazette (Extraordinary) of the 11th November 1955. An Act to provide for the repeal of the Punjab District Boards (Temporary Constitution) Act (Act 33 of 1954). Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- Section 1 - Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Punjab District Boards Temporary Constitution Repeal Act, 1955. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of (Substituted for the word "Punjab" by the Haryana Adaptation of Laws Order, 1968) [Haryana.] (3) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may appoint in this behalf. Section 2 - Repeal of Punjab Act XXXIII of 1954 The Punjab District Boards Temporary Constitution Act, 1954, shall stand repealed on the date when this Act, comes into force. Section 3 - Savings Any action taken. in the exercise of any power conferred by or under the repealed Act or any events which have ensued from the operation of the repealed Act. (2). The District Boards under the repealed Act shall continue to function. until the fresh constitution of the District Boards under the Punjab District Boards Act (Act XX of 1883). |
